Natasha McCray, a Black, Literature/ Theatre teacher in a suburb of Dallas fights the district, its leaders, and parents to make her school the new home to many students of color displaced by Hurricane Katrina. All of this while trying to hold on to the storms she has building in her personal life around her ex and her daughter that she lost custody of. Like a true educator she battles doing what’s right for kids which in this case is at odds with the parents and administration as racism in America and in the south holds tight at every turn.
